Recent Project Highlights

RCOP held the 5k Kolor Run on June 19th 2022. It was a 5K Run/Walk with a colorful twist. Runners/walkers will start the event wearing white, and will finish the race colorfully! During the race/walk, participants will pass through color stations, where the colored powder will be thrown in the air as they pass by. A very successful Annual Fund Raising Event for the club in Aid of Local and International Community Projects and Rotary Foundation's Disaster Relief Fund in support of Ukraine.

Play-with-me-autism foundation - In April 2021, RCOP procured raw materials for Play-with-me-autism foundation to help with their candle making project.	Burning Candle - In April 2021, RCOP sponsored a stitching workshop including procurement of sewing machines, the stitching kits and fabric for the Burning Candle NGO in India which works for the women and children belonging to marginalized sections of society supporting them in the areas of education, health hygiene, sanitization menstrual healthcare, self help & self reliance.

Q&A about COVID19 Vaccines RCOP hosted a COVID19 Vaccine public information virtual webinar on February 13, 2021 - Prof. and Rtn. Rajeev Mehta, MD of RCOP hosted this Q&A session with 2 leading Infectious Disease specialists Dr. Tanaya Bhowmick, MD. and Prof. Sunanda Gaur, MD. that explored multitude of questions ranging from the merits and safety of the different vaccines to the life after getting vaccinated. The webinar received over 1800 views and several accolades. Recording of the session is now available in the club’s facebook page.	Blanket Drive - In February 2021, Rotary Club of Plainsboro – North & South Brunswick (RCOP) distributed over 125 new blankets to help out the local community during these freezing winter months. RCOP partnered with Project Linus to distribute these blankets to the Salvation Army Trenton and Restoring Hearts Ministries in Ewing.

Virtual Run - To encourage fitness and health among the people of Central New Jersey. More than 100 participants signed in and raised over Two Thousand dollars in voluntary donations.

Clothing & Shoe Drive - organized in September 2020 to help with the local community fall cleanup. Over 100 bags of clothes and shoes were collected.

Support to Hyderabad Orphanage -A service project in September to help a orphanage in Hyderabad, India.

Farm to Table Fundraiser – RCOP Interact Club

The Interact Club of North Brunswick under the guidance and leadership of Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Plainsboro – North & South Brunswick held a successful “Farm to Table Fundraiser” in September 2020, collecting over One Thousand dollars and providing a fun meaningful experience to the project participants.

The vegetables were handpicked from Hallock’s Farm in New Egypt, NJ by the Interactors for this fundraiser.

December 2020 Toy Drive

RCOP donated toys to the North Brunswick Police Department’s Toy Drive in December for distribution to the local families in need during the holiday season.

Support to Hyderabad Orphanage

RCOP members organized a service project in September to help an orphanage in Hyderabad, India, for mentally challenged destitute orphans to procure the required Sound System, TVs and other media equipment.

Clothing & Shoe Drive

Rotary Club of Plainsboro – North & South Brunswick organized a Clothing & Shoe Drive in September to help with the local community fall cleanup. Over 100 bags of clothes and shoes were collected in a week’s time providing a much-needed outlet for the residents to donate their lightly used clothes and other household items to the needy.

The Rotary Club of Plainsboro collaborated with the Rotary Club of Hillsborough, NJ and Operation Shoebox for Holiday Gift Packing for the Troops Abroad.

Whether it looks like packing coffee, socks, toothpaste and sports gear into care packages or sending letters of encouragement, whether it looks like organizing fundraisers or collecting supplies for homeless veterans, Operation Shoebox is committed to treating every hero with care and honor.

2014: Paul Harris Felicitation

Our club became a 100% Paul Harris Recipient Club.

The highest award in Rotary is the Paul Harris Award. Continuing the legacy of the Rotary founder, the Paul Harris Fellow program was established in 1957, to recognize individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the community.

2017: Shoe Drive "Soles4Souls"

Soles4Souls

Shoe Drive "Soles4Souls" was hosted by the Rotary Club of Plainsboro, North & South Brunswick.We donated 1,000 pairs of new and delicately used shoes to charity for those less fortunate.

Soles4Souls is a not for profit global social enterprise committed to fighting poverty through the collection and distribution of shoes and clothing.

2017: STOP HUNGER NOW campaign

A campaign to pack 50,000 bags of food to feed 300,000 children on February 3, 2017 at the Raritan Valley Community College Cafeteria.

Dance Fest 2016

Since 2008, RCOP has started an annual tradition of a Spring Dance Festival, which also happens to be their major fund raiser. Over the years, they have been hosting this event and it has grown from strength to strength.

2016: South Brunswick Food Pantry Project

The Rotary Club of Plainsboro, North & South Brunswick donated food supplies to the South Brunswick Food Pantry on March 04, led by Rotary team Silpa Chinta and Monica Madda.

The Food Pantry management was very appreciative of the club’s generous donation and continuous support.

RCOP team volunteered and supported 14th Annual Interfaith Dinner and Homes of Hope Celebration‏ on November 21, 2015. Homes of Hope supports Nepal Earthquake Relief efforts.

2015: School Libraries Project in Cape Town

RCOP participated in establishing two libraries benefiting over 1000 children on an ongoing basis. This was to provide library books, supplies, and training to ten schools in the Greater Cape Town area (South Africa).

The Rotary Foundation has awarded $57,429 to this project.

Rotary Club volunteered to constructing a new hiking trail at Thompson Park Conservation Area in Monroe Twp on November 07, 2015.

2015: Clean the Beach Old Bridge Waterfront Park

Our club members, spouses and the North & South Brunswick Interact students volunteered with Bank of America employees and family members helped to clean the beach along the Old Bridge Waterfront Park, on October 24, 2015.

The volunteers collected nearly 2,500 pieces of debris that filled several trash bags.

RCOP collaborated with multi Rotary clubs to support the Military/Veteran Appreciation Day on October 10, 2015.

The raised amount was donated to the cause of the day.

2014: RCOP'S Autism Awareness Ambassador Program

Rotary Club of Plainsboro (RCOP) is sponsoring New Jersey's Autism Awareness Ambassador program. More than 300 Autism awareness school resource packs have been disseminated to elementary classrooms throughout the state, impacting more than 7,000 students. The school Resource pack contains all the tools needed for an elementary school teacher (Grades K to 5) to raise awareness in his/her classroom and includes supplies for a 24 student classroom.

The Rotary Club of Plainsboro has sponsored School Resource Packs in Autism New Jersey's Autism Ambassador program. These contain the tools needed for an elementary/middle school teacher to raise autism awareness in his/her school and classroom. Their audience -- children, other non-special needs teachers, and school administrative staff -- will receive input on how to behave with autistic children they come into contact with -- a key element in the behavioral therapy the kids need.
